The future of CVs?

As part of the coaching service we give to all candidates, the team at Kyna Associates have enjoyed coaching thousands of people on the format of their CVs for Executive, IT and Business Change opportunities over the years.

This has greatly improved CV sent to interview request ratios and resulted in many fantastic placements for candidates (who may not have even received an interview based on their original CV). However, as with all things in business and recruitment; it seems the current world of instant results and resulting time pressures continues to impact the time hiring managers have to review CVs.

So much so, that some clients have even requested we drop the full CV and instead use a template detailing the bare facts they are looking for.

The new CV format is simple.

1 – 2 pages maximum detailing:

1) Your Profile

2) Your skills

3) Career history which simply states dates, company and job title and nothing more!

This tells the reviewer a bit about what interests you, your current skills and the companies and roles you’ve held.

Comparethemarket.com are not alone in this as we have other clients also requesting similar amendments.

So we ask our audience, what do you think? Is this an oversimplification of intellectual content and discredit to the CV evaluation process, or is it an excellent time saver and traditional CVs are a thing of the past anyway?
